down day

Hi guys! Today has been an approved day of rest. Senol and his brother both let me know that it would be a scourcher so it is the best idea to stay inside. I might have to wander out just to hit up the grocery in the nextdoor building. Otherwise I am following strict orders to rest. And I am going to research all things in the LetsGo Turkey as well as get some laundry done before I go on my coastal tour. oh yea I like the way that sounds.
Yesterday Senol and I had a great time on the Prince's Island. there are seven of them and you should look them up. The one we spent time on was the largest there are only a handfull of gas vehicles otherwise people use horse drawn carriages. I don't really think the locals do because it is outrageously expensive to go from the port to the beach (3 miles for 25 tl)...but when I come back to the city I think I will do that with my bathing suit and book.
We had ice cream twice and walked up the main road maybe an hour. I was amazed at how much I felt like I was in New Orleans. There was wrought iron around some windows and very elegant white wooden houses. We saw a few buildings with cement fronts looking like the duplexes around the french quarter...and of course gas lamps which I think have since been converted. It is a very nice place and is probably a little closer than Catalina from Long Beach (right?). We got stuck in a light islandy rain and sat down at a sidewalk table covered by umbrella and ate Calamari while it passed. Overall it was a nice day...then on the way back Senol got a brutal headache which got better after he drank a lot of water...hmm there might be something going on here with that dehydration thing.

If you are ever in the position to choose between cow's milk icecream and goat's milk ice cream definatly go with goats milk! so good. I had raspberry and chocolate of both varieties, wasn't blinded but I can tell you without bias the goat is where it is at. Anyway have a great day.
My tour of the coast might change a little so stay tuned...I will too...actually I am kinda anxious about it...gotta relax and be one with no fixed plans. It is about the journey:)
love you guys and here are some pics from my photographer's camera

  1. It is a beautiful countr. Who lives on Prince Island[s] now? How close and what direction from Istanbul? And you have listened to your mother - good walking shoes and all.

  4. Sure looks like the French Quarter to me, too. Love the beautiful flowers. How did you get to be so tall; taller than Senol in just 2 wks?
