water logged

Sometimes I feel like the little mermaid, not very often but today it came back to me. you know about jumping/dancing. It is not that I have a flipper but rather that after 5 hours of swimming and boating I don't have the energy. Today was all about the water which I am totally down with. We took a boat tour from Oludeniz to the twelve islands and tnen the bus to karakoy which is a village built in the 16th century and has gone from greek to turkish to tourist. So the boat. It is amazing to me that ocean water feels totally different around different coves. we had about three great swimming spots. they were the blue lagoon, butterfly valley and then one other nameless secluded beach. One of the places that we stopped must have been a run off for a mountain stream cus the water was freezing, but of course I went to check it out with one of my doctor friends. Butterfly valley was a beautiful opening to the ocean which apparantly led back to some waterfalls and in season some butterflies. It was too hot to venture back into the valley for a hike so I swam on the beach. I felt like I would imagine it feels to stay on the kapali trail on kauai. all the hippies were at butterfly valley, I almost stayed but the air conditioned bus drew me back. It was the usual hippie craft and beer type little town...love it! We saw ruins on San Nicolas island which is one of the twelve which was very cool to see. It looks like people could have taken a big leap out of their window and landed in the water. very nice. tomorrow we explore kas and do some more swimming. I am not sure exactly what will happen except that I have to be ready at eight. YEE HAW. ps dad that comment sounds so like you...and a hint of senol mixed in

  1. Wow wee. Swimming in the sea! Quite the island hopper you are. I love the pictures of your no fixed plans journey so far. Makes me want to have a fixed plan to be your personal photographer for the rest of the trip.
