getting lost

Hey there! It is Tuesday morning for me and I am on the ferry going into old town. It is a boat with air conditioning in the cabin and so I feel like a princess, they sure know how to treat women in Turkey. In other news, this picture is of my sad right foot. My foot growled at me yesterday and said…you may not go into the old town and so I relented and went into Kadikoy for an afternoon of wandering. Just my style. I took a book and headed out with the mission of finding a hamam but couldn’t be sure of the location so I asked some high school age girls and within five minutes there was a Turkish summit on the neutral ground to find this hamam. It was very sweet and people are super helpful…except one guy who I saw on the bus and accidently made eye contact with and he said something in Turkish, I didn’t like his tone…and it is a good thing I don’t understand. Being an island has its benefits. So back to Kadikoy I went to have a mediocre lunch on a side street and read a book for a while. It was a very relaxing day and I felt good to be able to take the bus by myself and not get lost. I guess that is relative…lost within a 5 mile radius is ok by me…if there is food and water available I actually know right where I am. At the cafĂ©! Today is a different day, we discussed the hamam options last night (Senol his brother and I) and now I have a destination. I choose the hamam in the old town because I really want to see the basilica cistern which is in the same area. I miss you all but Jack Johnson and U2 are keeping me company on the loud busses oh speaking of the busses they are all diesel stick shifts could you imagine what the sf union would have to say about that…low back pain anyone! Talk with you soon and I love you all

  3. And avoid fanny packs. Only people over 55 can wear them without criticical comment from contemporaries.

  5. Looks like your dawgs are barking! WEAR SOME DECENT SHOES, for goodness sake. Yes, I am yelling. Fanny packs are never (I repeat NEVER) acceptable. They are worthy of much scorn.
Thanks for making Noah's birthday special this morning. We had a day filled with Noah-selected activities...train, ponies, water, In-N-Out, trolley, play area, pizza, cupcakes, dinosaurs, etc.
    Love you!

  6. I like fanny packs!!! They hold cell phones, bus passes, passports, handy wipes, sun screen and lipstick nicely. So, I will wear mine no matter what ya'll think.
