Taksim Square and galata tower
HI-I am sitting eating breakfast and blogging in Senols apartment. I might go out today but I also might not. this weekend has been really full of sight seeing which is exhausting. Yesterday we took the bus then ferry and then subway to Taksim square which is a really cool area with a high concenration of night clubs, cafes, bars and the like. There are lots of young turks, europeans and cobble stoned streets. it was really great to walk the back streets near the galata tower and then down toward the ferry. Taksim has 3000 venues for entertaining ones self and I plan to try them all out. not really going to do that but it is definatly a place in the city that I will go take a book, sit at a cafe and sip on some turkish tea hopefully while eating chocolate covered turkish delight. FABULOUS. There is a hamam there that I want to try soon. I haven't been to one yet and am feigning for a massage...not to mention that I really could use a deep clean cus I am stank! So here are some picture that Senol took as he was my personal photographer for the day. I'll really miss that! He has been very gracious every day but I don't know how he has the energy. The last picture is a lovely one taken by Senol when we got back to Kadikoy looking back at the old city Talk with you soon.

I love the crowds on the street. You look great and sure. The pictures of the tower, the steps, then the Old City help me understand why Istanbul is such a worldwide magnet for visitors. What, praytell, is a "hamam?"
ReplyDeletea hamam is a turkish bath. There are many throughout the city some older than others. I went to one in paris and it is like the place that mom and I went to in Northridge where you scrub massage and rince...well someone does it for you...the ultimate pampering SOO looking forward to it!
